2019 Category Guide: The great divide

Each year Supermarket News presents its Category Guide, which reports on the latest sales results of the top categories in the fresh department and center store. Based on data from IRI and Nielsen Food View, the report includes sales figures for the past 12 months as well as the percent change in sales year-to-year.

The Category Guide Overview includes tables of leading gainers and decliners in center story and fresh food categories.

Center Store Categories include shelf-stable groceries, frozen foods, nonfood and HBC, snacks and beverages.

Fresh Categories include produce, dairy, meat and bakery.
