The pandemic changed slow to no-growth dairy sales into a triumph as people first began hoarding (in March and April) and later buying most of their food from supermarkets rather than eating out. In the month of March, daily sales were up over 35% year over year, according to IRI data presented in SN’s 2020 Category Guide. While the numbers have since stabilized, as of Sept. 6, dairy sales were still up 13.8% over the same period last year.
Much of that growth was in yogurts and snacks for kids and adults whose normal school and work routines have been disrupted. Here are some of the latest products hitting the dairy case.
