Instacart will now deliver groceries for Giant Eagle, Market District
The partnership powers same-day delivery chain-wide with plans for expansion
Giant Eagle has signed on with Instacart to offer shoppers same-day delivery (in as fast as an hour) from Giant Eagle and Market District via the Instacart app.
The delivery service is immediately available to Instacart customers in central Ohio and Indiana, with plans to expand to all Giant Eagle and Market District stores in the future.
The grocer expects to offer the service to over 200 supermarkets across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Maryland in the future.
Giant Eagle will also integrate its myPerks loyalty program into the app.
Graham Watkins, Giant Eagle’s executive vice president and chief information and supply chain officer, said that while customers choose to use company-led curbside pickup and delivery services, the partnership ensures that customers across its markets also have access to its stores regardless of how they choose to shop.
“We recognize that many shoppers rely on Instacart for their grocery needs,” Watkins said.
In addition, there are plans for Instacart customers in Ohio to be able to order alcohol online for delivery at participating Giant Eagle and Market District locations in the coming months.
Instacart is the only marketplace to expand chain-wide with Giant Eagle according to Chris Rogers, chief business officer at Instacart, adding that the “customer demand for Giant Eagle same-day delivery was loud and clear to us.”
Instacart said that it partners with more than 1,400 national, regional, and local retail banners to facilitate online shopping, delivery, and pickup services from more than 80,000 stores across North America on the Instacart Marketplace.
