REDNER'S MARKETS MAKES BOARD APPOINTMENTS

READING, Pa. — Redner's Markets has announced several new members to its board of directors and promotions among senior staff. Douglas Emore, vice president of maintenance and construction, becomes a director, reporting to Richard Redner, president; John W. Sweigart has been promoted from director of automated retailing systems to vice president of information technology and was named a board member, also reporting to Redner; Cory Deily becomes director of security and loss prevention; Nicholas Hidalgo becomes director of information, reporting to Sweigart; Michael J. Mowad has been promoted to senior deli merchandiser/category manager; and David D. Peterson is now senior meat/seafood merchandiser/category manager.

BJ'S NAMES SHEEHAN TO FILL BOARD VACANCY

NATICK, Mass. — Michael Sheehan has been elected to the board of directors of BJ's Wholesale Club, the retailer here said. Sheehan is the chief executive officer of Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, a communications agency based in Boston. At Hill Holliday, Sheehan's clients include Liberty Mutual, Verizon Wireless, John Hancock, Dunkin' Donuts and CVS. BJ's said Sheehan's election fills a vacancy in the class of directors whose term is set to expire next year.

MC-MCLANE NAMES STINEBAUGH PRESIDENT

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — MC-McLane International said last week 35-year industry veteran Louis Stinebaugh has been named its president and chief operating officer. He most recently was president of San Jose, Calif.-based Mi Pueblo Food Center. He also served as president and chief operating officer at Fresh Brands Distributing, Sheboygan, Wis., parent of Piggly Wiggly and Dick's Supermarkets in the region. Stinebaugh began his career in 1972 at Kroger in Greenville, Texas, and also spent time working at Safeway, Fleming Cos. and Baker's Supermarkets.

MAWYER JOINS WEIS MARKETS AS VP OF IT

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here, which operates 155 stores, said that Bob Mawyer has joined the company as vice president of information technology. Previously, Mawyer worked as director of information systems at Giant Food in Carlisle, Pa. Prior to joining Giant Food, he was a longtime employee of Giant of Landover, Md. Mawyer has more than 30 years of experience in information technology and information systems, including management roles in database, security and Unix technical systems.

KROGER PROMOTES KAUFMAN IN MANUFACTURING

CINCINNATI — Kroger here said that Calvin Kaufman has been promoted to group vice president and president of Kroger Manufacturing. In his new position, Kaufman is responsible for overseeing the retailer's 42 food-processing plants. Kaufman succeeds William T. Boehm, who is retiring after 27 years of service, Kroger said. Kaufman currently is senior director of logistics for Kroger. He joined the organization as part of the Fred Meyer logistics group in 1994.

FORMER ALBERTSONS EXECUTIVE JOINS TECH FIRM

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Robert J. Dunst, a former chief information officer at Albertsons, was named to the board of directors of Altierre Corp., a provider of retail pricing technologies based here, Altierre said. Supervalu, Minneapolis, said in 2006 that he would leave Albertsons following its acquisition by Supervalu.
