Jerel Golub Named Price Chopper CEO; Grimmett COO

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Golub Corp. here on Tuesday said Jerel T. “Jerry” Golub, current president and chief operating officer of Price Chopper Supermarkets’ parent company, will assume leadership as president and CEO effective Jan. 1.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Golub Corp. here on Tuesday said Jerel T. “Jerry” Golub, current president and chief operating officer of Price Chopper Supermarkets’ parent company, will assume leadership as president and CEO effective Jan. 1.

In related appointments also announced Tuesday, Neil Golub, Price Chopper’s CEO since 2000, will serve as executive chairman of the board. He will continue to have oversight for legal and internal audit functions, while working on design concepts for the next generation of Price Chopper stores. Neil and Jerry Golub are second cousins and descendants of founders Bill and Ben Golub.

Scott Grimmett was named executive vice president and chief operating officer. Grimmett most recently served as president of Safeway’s Denver division and has 37 years of industry experience.

 “It’s gratifying to realize the value of succession planning at all levels of our organization,” Neil Golub said in a statement. “In addition to mentoring young talent, succession provides for the continuity of values and collaborative leadership style that are so critical to success.”
