C&S Wholesale Grocers has appointed David Almeda EVP, chief human resources officer to drive development of the C&S team in support of the company’s accelerated growth plans, effective Sept. 1, 2014.

Almeda has previously served as chief people officer at workforce management organization Kronos, where he was responsible for talent acquisition and development, compensation and benefits, and employee engagement programs. While with Kronos he created the Work Inspired employment brand, which led to enhanced employee benefits and increased charitable efforts.

“Dave is an accomplished professional who provides a visionary leadership style,” C&S President Mark Verdi said in a statement. “His extensive knowledge of the human resources arena will allow us to build and further develop talent strategies and programs that will enable us to deliver exceptional value to our customers in this dynamic industry.”

Almeda will focus on talent acquisition, talent development, organizational design, employee engagement and other activities at C&S.
