Festival Foods on Thursday said that COO Marlin Greenfield will transition into a new role as senior operations leader for the company, and Mike Mesich, previously VP of store operations, has been promoted to SVP operations.

This new role provides Greenfield the flexibility to serve as a mentor and advisor to the senior leadership team and store directors throughout the organization, the Onalaska, Wis., company said.

“Marlin joined the Festival Foods team 25 years ago and brought with him a variety of experience in different retail grocery formats, which was essential to our growth and winning culture,” Mark Skogen, president and CEO, said in a statement.

Greenfield’s decision to take on a new role provided the opportunity to evaluate the senior operations structure and the talent within the team. As a result, Mesich will lead all of the company’s operations in his new role. Mesich joined Festival Foods in 2006 and has been involved in the grocery business all his life. After working for Copps for 26 years, he became a business partner in three grocery stores located in Appleton, Kimberly and Shawano, Wis.

During his years with Festival, Mesich has led significant changes to the company’s labor management process, which increased productivity and lowered costs.
