Martin Wolfe has joined Retail Business Services (RBS), the services arm of Ahold Delhaize USA, as chief technology officer.

Quincy, Mass.-based RBS said Thursday that Wolfe becomes part of its information technology leadership team, led by Rom Kosla, executive vice president of IT and chief information officer. Wolfe brings a blend of business acumen, technical depth and industry expertise to the CTO role, including a deep background in digital transformation and hybrid cloud journeys, RBS noted.

I look forward to supporting Retail Business Services in its ‘Evolve IT’ journey, which is key in enabling Ahold Delhaize USA brands to win now and into the future.”

Most recently, Wolfe served as global CTO and vice president of IBM’s retail, consumer packaged goods, logistics and travel industries. He comes to RBS after 25 years at IBM, including as CTO and senior technical adviser, global cloud architecture leader, executive client architect and technical adviser, and chief engineer and lead enterprise architect, among other roles.

“We’re pleased to welcome Marty to the team,” stated Kosla, who succeeded Paul Scorza as CIO of RBS last year. “His deep experience in retail and related industries, where he was responsible for driving digital transformation, will be valuable as we continue to transform IT for Ahold Delhaize USA companies. As each of our companies continue to serve connected customers and drive aggressive omnichannel growth, the role of IT has never been more important. We look forward to Marty’s contributions as we continue our work to ‘Evolve IT’ and enable Ahold Delhaize USA companies to thrive in an omnichannel world.”

Besides technology, RBS provides Ahold Delhaize USA retail banners with services and support in merchandising, marketing, private brands, store operations, pharmacy, sourcing, financial, communications, supply chain and other areas.

Ahold Delhaize USA encompasses the supermarket chains Stop & Shop, Giant Food, Giant/Martin’s, Food Lion and Hannaford, which operates more than 2,000 stores on the East Coast, as well as online grocer FreshDirect, the Peapod Digital Labs e-commerce and digital innovation unit, and the RBS support unit.
