ST. LOUIS — Tom Lenkevich, second in command at Supervalu’s Save-A-Lot division, will be leaving the discounter to pursue other opportunities at the end of the summer, SN has learned.
Lenkevich, the chief operating officer of Save-A-Lot, responsible for retail operations of the company’s 1,200 corporate and licensed retail stores, informed staff at Save-A-Lot of his intention to resign last week, Chon Tomlin, a spokeswoman for Save-A-Lot, confirmed to SN Tuesday. The company has not yet named his successor, Tomlin said.
A former Save-A-Lot licensee, Lenkevich joined Save-A-Lot as a senior vice president of retail operations in 2008.
Save-A-Lot is a division of the Minneapolis retailer Supervalu, which last week said it would explore the potential sale of the company and its divisions, including Save-A-Lot. It was unclear whether Lenkevich’s decision was related to that announcement.
