New York-based Food Bazaar Supermarkets plans to open two former Pathmark locations as well as a brand new store, the retailer announced.

The ethnic superstore operator said it would hold a grand opening celebration for a re-bannered Pathmark in Elizabeth, N.J., on Aug. 25, with a re-bannered Pathmark in Brentwood, N.Y. scheduled to open Aug. 29.

Food Bazaar acquired the Pathmark stores during A&P’s bankruptcy proceedings last year.

The new store, located in the Bronx in New York, will hold its grand opening Sept. 1.

All three stores will offer a full-service seafood department, custom cutting meat department, bakery, deli counter, exotic produce and extensive international aisles.

“We are deeply committed to providing our customers with a wide variety of fresh, authentic foods at affordable prices, and are excited to serve an even wider group of communities with these three new stores,” Edward Suh, EVP for Food Bazaar, said in a press release. “We feel fortunate to be able to work with community leaders and organizations to build partnerships that benefit local families, which is why we have incorporated a large charity element at each of our ribbon cuttings. This ensures that much-needed goods will get to the people who need it most in our neighborhoods.”

To commemorate the openings, the retailer plans to donate approximately 20 tons of food and general merchandise to local charities, including Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Saint Anne’s Parish in Brentwood and City Harvest in the Bronx.

Food Bazaar operates more than 20 supermarkets in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
