NORRISTOWN, Pa. — Services were held here last week for Charles Genuardi, the oldest of the five brothers who founded the Genuardi’s chain.

Genuardi died at age 102 at his home in Lansdale, Pa. Along with four younger brothers, he founded the grocery chain in 1954 and operated it until 1990, when it was turned over to the next generation.

The chain was sold in 2001 to Safeway.
