Hannaford Supermarkets announced it will buy two stores in Maine from its wholesaler customer Bud’s Shop ‘n Save.

The two stores, located in Newport and Dexter, are expected to change hands in early December. Hannaford said not much would change at the acquired stores.

"We have been proud to support these stores as a wholesale supplier for many years and we look forward to serving customers with a familiar team, local products and Hannaford-brand items,” Todd Bullen, a director of operations for Hannaford, said in a press release.

Bud’s has been a Hannaford wholesale customer for 63 years. Dean Homstead, owner of Bud’s, will remain the owner and operator of a third Bud’s location in Pittsfield.

A spokesperson for Hannaford did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
