LAS VEGAS — An Albertsons store here became the first in southern Nevada to host "DMV in a Box," a self-service kiosk that allows shoppers to conduct transactions with the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
"Albertsons is thrilled to be able to add another new and convenient service for our customers at our Craig Road and Decatur store," said Sue Klug, president of Albertsons Southern California Division, in a prepared statement. "The opportunity to be able to shop, bank, purchase some stamps or bus passes and now renew a car registration really makes this Albertsons a one-stop shop."
Earlier this year, the DMV placed new kiosks at two supermarkets in northern Nevada, according to reports.
Up to 80 of the kiosks are scheduled to be deployed in the next few years, the DMV said. The kiosks can process registration renewals, print out driving records and reinstate registrations that have been suspended because of an insurance lapse.
