Lidl enters the Thanksgiving price war
Lidl shoppers will be able to scoop up a turkey for 49 cents a pound, $1.30 less than the national average, to be the centerpiece of a holiday meal for 10 for less than $30.

Lidl US on Friday announced that if shoppers are looking to host a Thanksgiving dinner with 10 people for less than $30, the German hard discounter has them covered.
Starting Nov. 15, the Alexandria, Virginia-based retailer will sell a Thanksgiving meal that includes a frozen turkey for 49 cents per pound, which is $1.30 less than the national average. The turkey is available through Lidl’s free loyalty program, myLidl.
The retailer noted the average price for frozen turkey is $1.79 per pound, according to data recently released by the USDA.
"Families can always rely on Lidl for the best deal during the holiday season," said Joel Rampoldt, CEO of Lidl US, in a statement. "We are proud to offer shoppers a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all the seasonal fixings for less than $30, especially as inflation continues to hit pocketbooks. We hope these savings provide relief so families can come together to give thanks and enjoy their holiday meal.”
The discounted meal includes the following products and quantities:
Frozen turkey (13 lbs.)
Pumpkin pie mix, 30 oz.
2 pie crusts
1 gallon of whole milk
1 celery stalk
Baby carrots, 16 oz.
Sweet peas, 16 oz.
Fresh cranberries, 12 oz.
Sweet potatoes, 3 lbs. bag
1 pint of heavy whipping cream
3 18-ounce packages of turkey stuffing mix
Hawaiian sweet rolls, 12 count
With retailers vying for shoppers’ Thanksgiving shopping lists, Target recently announced a holiday dinner for four for $25. Walmart and Aldi are also offering steep price cuts to lure inflation-pressed shoppers.
