INDIANAPOLIS — Marsh Supermarkets here said Wednesday it would close three central Indiana stores in Greenwood, Anderson and Martinsville, citing shifting demographics.
“As all good companies do, on a routine basis we review and evaluate our asset base,” Connie Gardner, a spokeswoman for Marsh, said in a statement. “While the decision to close a store is always difficult, the Marsh management team is committed to making decisions that will strengthen the company’s position in our marketing areas and ensure our long-term success."

Gardner noted that Marsh was building a new location in downtown Indianapolis.
“We hope that this will be the first of many new stores that we will be able to announce in the months and years ahead,” she said.
