Penn Traffic to Close 8 Stores
Penn Traffic Co. said Friday that it would close eight stores early next month as part of a strategy to invest behind its best-performing assets.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Penn Traffic Co. here said Friday that it would close eight stores early next month as part of a strategy to invest behind its best-performing assets.
The closures, set for Feb. 7, affect P&C Foods stores in Syracuse, Fulton, Auburn, Watertown, Macedon and East Newark, N.Y., and Colchester, Vt. A Quality Food location in Dunkirk, N.Y., is also slated for closure.
The eight stores employ approximately 342 people. Penn Traffic in a statement said it would work with employees and union representatives to “find the best solution” for affected workers.
The company said is devoting its resources toward key locations for renovation and improvements.
