Schnuck Markets to reward employees with performance and retention bonuses
Also on tap are new operating hours and holiday schedule for stores
In its continued efforts to reward and show appreciation for its employees during the ongoing COVID pandemic, St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets is awarding eligible store and facility teammates a performance and retention bonus of up to $600 in a one-time bonus paying out in January 2022. The bonus will be based on hours worked, and is the fourth bonus the grocer has issued to workers since the initial outbreak of COVID in the spring of 2020.
“Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, our teammates have remained committed to our customers and our communities,” said Ted Schnuck, executive vice president, supermarkets, for the 111-store Midwestern chain. “As we look ahead to the busy holiday season, we are acknowledging their contributions and are thankful for their continued efforts to help us nourish people’s lives.”
Schnucks will be holding a companywide career fair on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 1 - 5 p.m., at all its stores as well as the Schnucks Bakery Plant. The company is looking to fill a variety of positions offering flexible schedules, career advancement, paid weekly, health benefits (after a qualifying period) and other teammate perks. Most positions are part-time to start. No experience is necessary. Teammates hired at the career fair who remain employed through January 2 will be eligible for the performance and retention bonus.
The company also announced that beginning Monday, Oct. 4, most Schnucks stores throughout Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin will observe new daily operating hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nine stores in the St. Louis area will remain open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily: Arsenal, Cross Keys, Dorsett, Hampton Village, Ladue Crossing, Lindell, Loughborough, Richmond Center and South City. (Store hours at Downtown St. Louis, EatWell in Columbia, Mo., and Schnucks Fresh in Jasper, Ind., will not change.)
Also on Oct. 4, all deli, meat and seafood department service counters will be open to serve customers 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. According to Schnucks, these new operating hours are being adopted in response to “the challenging labor market as well as evolving customer shopping patterns.”
