ShopRite stores make debut a week apart

Members of the Wakefern Food Corp. retail cooperative recently opened a pair of new ShopRite supermarkets a week apart in Matamoras, Pa., and Wayne, N.J.

The ShopRite of Westfall Town Center, in Pennsylvania’s Pike County, was opened Nov. 7 by Shop-Rite Supermarkets Inc. (SRS), which operates 36 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and the Hudson Valley and Capital Region in New York. The new store, at 111 Hulst Dr. in Matamoras, replaced the ShopRite of Montague at the Tri-State Mall. All of the associates from the old store are among the 300 employees at the new location.
 
The 73,000-square-foot supermarket houses Fresh to Table, a recently introduced concepts that reinvents traditional produce and fresh departments to provide food-to-go options and ingredients for shoppers looking for a one-stop-shop meal experience. Fresh to Table sections include ready-to-cook items (“Prep & Eat”), ready-to-heat and serve items (“Heat & Eat”) and ready-to-eat meals (“Grab & Eat”). Also in the space are ShopRite own-brand products, including Bowl & Basket and Wholesome Pantry items.

Fresh to Table incorporates digital components as well, such as ShopRite Express to pre-order meals online. Other highlights of the Fresh to Table experience include the “Tasty & Trending” section, featuring on-trend, seasonal foods with items that change frequently. Tasty and Trending meals and snacks are selected by ShopRite chefs and registered dietitians. Distinctive signage and designated registers for easy checkout also provide more convenience for customers shopping Fresh to Table in-store.

ShopRite of Westfall Town Center, too, sports a more modern design and new look and feel that the retailer said carries through other ShopRite brand touchpoints, such as digital platforms, circulars and store signage, as well as the new Fresh to Table experience.

“We are proud to open our new store in Westfall Township and look forward to serving the community and providing ShopRite value, variety and quality, along with exciting new store features, décor and design, and amenities,” Shop-Rite Supermarkets President Steve Savas said in a statement.

ShopRite of Wayne Hills went into operation on Oct. 31 after a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event on Oct. 29.

Located at 30 Wayne Hills Mall in Wayne, N.J., the nearly 80,000-square-foot supermarket replaced the ShopRite at 625 Hamburg Turnpike and is owned by Inserra Supermarkets, which operates 23 ShopRite stores, including 18 in New Jersey’s Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties and five in New York’s Rockland County.

The new ShopRite of Wayne Hills offers a wide assortment of groceries and fresh produce along with Inserra hallmark features, including the Patsy’s Butcher meat department with trained butchers; a fresh bakery shop offering store-made bread, cakes and pastries; a fresh seafood department with daily deliveries; and a produce department with a broad selection of organic and locally grown fruit and vegetables, as well as a floral shop. 

For customer convenience, the store provides both traditional and self-checkout lanes as well as the online personal shopping service, ShopRite from Home, which offers store pickup and home delivery. Other amenities include a ShopRite gourmet kitchen, staffed with professionally trained chefs serving restaurant-quality meals daily, plus a wellness center and an in-store registered dietitian.
