BOSTON — Super 88, a chain of Asian supermarkets here, has shuttered three of its six locations, including the chain’s original location in this city’s Chinatown, according to local reports last week. As previously reported, the chain recently agreed to pay $175,000 in back pay to current and former employees after the state accused the company of failing to pay overtime and violating minimum-wage rules. The investigation by the Massachusetts attorney general began in March 2007 after workers claimed they were not fairly paid. In a report in the Boston Globe, an attorney for Super 88 said the charges and the closings were not related, and that Super 88 was going to continue to operate in the area.
