RICHMOND, Va. — Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods here — a manufacturer run by the former owners of the Ukrop’s Super Market chain — has begun supplying product to more than 1,100 Kroger-owned stores in 20 states, according to local reports.

The Kroger stores next month will begin offering White House Rolls, one of Ukrop’s more popular products, under the Good Meadow Homemades brand name, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. In addition, about 50 Kroger stores in the Louisville, Ky., market will begin carrying sandwiches, green salads and chilled prepared foods from Ukrop’s with the Good Meadow Homemades label by the end of September, the newspaper said.

The Ukrop family — led by brothers Bobby and Jim Ukrop — sold their 25-store chain to Ahold’s Martin’s Food Markets, a division of Giant-Carlisle, in 2010, but they continue to operate the manufacturing business that supplies Martin’s and other local chains with fresh food products. The Kroger expansion marks a significant escalation in volume for the company, the Times-Dispatch reported.

Reached late Friday, a Kroger spokesman said he could not immediately confirm the product rollout; Ukrop’s officials could not be reached for comment.
