Aldi just acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores. We asked: Are we going to see more industry consolidation like this? (Especially with the Kroger, Albertsons merger deal looming?)

Until the FTC gets involved. Too big is just that: too much in one person’s basket. Without the little guy to mix it up, we become stale and the consumer pays the price.

There’s a finite seamount of business, regardless of segment. There’s a finite amount of disposable income. As society plays and changes, it’s valued, business has to adapt in an effort to stay in business. Just ask Kmart. Consolidation will happen.

Customers, manufacturers and employees of the companies involved in this uncontrolled consolidation in the grocery industry all lose out as it continues. Less and less competition is not a good thing in the grocery industry!

Awesome move, some great locations and helps Aldi in the Florida Market. Stores and Warehouses. I am assuming Winn-Dixie/Harveys will have Aldi store format on stores.
