Aldi is facing a muffin recall

Almost 12,000 cases have been pulled because label did not say muffins have walnuts

FGF Brands Inc. has recalled almost 12,000 cases of chocolate chip muffins sold at Aldi because they may contain undeclared walnuts.

The Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin 4 count was distributed to stores across the country and marked with the lot number NF1 142Y and UPC label 4099100048278.

No illnesses have been reported.

The recall was issued after it was discovered that the products containing walnuts were in packages where the label did not disclose the walnut ingredient.

An investigation revealed the issue was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging process.

Production of the muffins has been suspended until the Food & Drug Administration and FGF Brands are certain the problem has been corrected.
