Costco settles flushable wipes lawsuit for $2M

Anyone who purchased the Kirkland product between July 1, 2011, and May 31, 2017 are eligible

Costco has agreed to pay $2 million as a result of a class action lawsuit involving the retailer’s Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes.

Dr. D Joseph Kurtz filed the class action complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Kurtz claimed the flushable wipes caused damage to pipes, septic systems, sewage lines, and other plumbing.

Costco is not admitting guilt, but shoppers who purchased the flushable wipes between July 1, 2011, and May 31, 2017, may be eligible for a piece of the settlement.

Consumers can receive anywhere between $7.50 and $55.90, which is the cost of 43 products. Proof of purchase is not required.
