The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released another alert regarding a ground cinnamon product because it contains elevated levels of lead.

El Servidor ground cinnamon distributed by El Servidor Corp. based in Elmhurst, N.Y., could contain a harmful amount of lead and the FDA has recommended that the distributor voluntarily recall the product.

The issue was discovered through product testing conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and has been confirmed by the FDA.

The FDA is continuing to analyze cinnamon and review sample results received from state partners who have been continuously sampling ground cinnamon at retail for elevated levels of lead.

Consumers are being told to stop using and dispose El Servidor ground cinnamon.

So far, no illnesses have been linked to the ground cinnamon.

Back in March, discount retailers Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Save A Lot were told to pull ground cinnamon products.

The products included in the safety alert were La Fiesta brand sold by La Superior and SuperMercados; Marcum brand sold by Save A Lot; MK brands sold by SF Supermarket; Swad brand which can be found at Patel Brothers; El Chilar brand sold by La Joya Morelense; and Supreme Tradition brand found at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.
