BJ’s Wholesale Club is rolling out a new membership add-on to its Same-Day Delivery service. Called Same-Day Select, the upgrade option allows club members to pay a one-time fee upfront for unlimited or a set number of same-day grocery deliveries, delivered in as little as two hours.

Westborough, Mass.-based BJ’s said in a March 30 release that it has been testing the program for the past six months, and that it is now available to members at its 226 club stores.

Same-Day Select, which includes delivery on all grocery items, including fresh foods and everyday household essentials, comes in two package options: Multipack, offering 12 free deliveries for a one-year period for $55; and Unlimited, offering unlimited free deliveries for a one-year period for $100.

Members who use this program are also eligible for in-club pricing and can earn rewards and use BJ’s coupons. Orders must total at least $60 to qualify for Same-Day Select delivery.

“This program was designed to help our members take advantage of the benefits of Same-Day Delivery, while saving them time and money,” Tim Morningstar, EVP and chief membership officer for BJ’s, said in a release.

Same-day deliveries are on the rise. According to a December 2021 survey from PWC Global, a professional services network, 41% of consumers are willing to pay a charge for same-day delivery, while 24% would pay more to receive packages within a one- or two-hour window of their choosing.

And according to a 2021 survey from Chicago-based marketing consultant invesp, 49% of consumers say same-day delivery makes them more likely to shop online.

In other delivery news, BJ’s earlier this week announced that it has teamed up with DoorDash to offer on-demand grocery delivery from all its stores, making it the first wholesale club available through the delivery company’s platform.
