BJ’s Wholesale Club will open its sixth Georgia location Friday, bringing BJ’s total club count to 237. The new 99,828-square-foot club will be located at 245 Highway 81 in McDonough, Georgia, southeast of downtown Atlanta, the company said Monday.

“We are excited to grow our club footprint in the state of Georgia by bringing a brand-new club to the city of McDonough,” said Robert Williams, club manager of McDonough’s BJ’s, in a statement.

The new location will feature a full-service deli, fresh foods and produce, household essentials, pet supplies and the retailer’s signature "treasure-hunt experience" for BJ’s members. There will also be an on-site BJ’s gas station, opening in the coming weeks, the company said. Curbside pickup, in-club pickup ExpressPay and same-day delivery will also be available.

Looking to expand its club count, last week BJ’s opened its 36th Florida club in Davenport as growth continues for the warehouse club.

“Our club openings in Davenport and McDonough are part of our continued growth within the Orlando and Atlanta markets, respectively,” said Bill Werner, executive VP of strategy and development for BJ’s Wholesale Club.

BJ’s will report its fourth quarter fiscal 2022 earnings on March 9 and has seen a continuation of steady gains in market share. The wholesale club recorded record third-quarter profits for the third quarter as same-store sales increased 9.7% year over year, prompting President and CEO Bob Eddy to tell analysts that “this was the most profitable third quarter in our history.”

With a focus on value, the Marlborough, Massachusetts-based wholesale club is expanding its state footprint as well. A new club in La Vergne, 20 miles southeast of downtown Nashville in Rutherford County, will open the first half of the year, bringing the club’s state count to 19.

“The opening of our club in La Vergne represents the first of what will be multiple locations in the greater Nashville market. We can’t wait to welcome our newest BJ’s members this year and help provide these local communities with unbeatable value and incredible savings.”

BJ’s is also planning its entrance into Alabama, according to townmadison.coma local Madison, Alabama, website announcing a BJ’s “coming soon” to 165 Graphics Drive in Madison. BJ’s did not respond to a request to comment on the new club.
