Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) established the Focus on the Future $1 million scholarship fund in partnership with more than 40 colleges and universities in its operating region of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. The donation is in line with one of the Tyler, Texas-based retailer’s six core values: results-driven with a future focus. BGC intends to help students obtain higher education and become community leaders of tomorrow.

“We are very excited to launch a lasting program which will help thousands of students achieve their dreams for years to come,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO of Brookshire Grocery Co. “We support our local communities and value education, which is one of our top philanthropic efforts. So many families and individuals have been financially impacted by the pandemic. We are proud to be able to help those aspiring toward their dreams.”

The scholarship fund will provide tuition assistance to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in participating institutions beginning in fall 2021. Requirements vary by school but are typically based on financial need and leadership and many of the scholarships are established in perpetuity to be annual scholarships.
