Built from the ground up, Cardenas Markets’ new 41,652-square-foot store at 5281 Holt Blvd. in Montclair, Calif., is slated to open Oct. 14. The store will mark the 60th for this leading Hispanic supermarket chain based in Ontario, Calif., which specializes in fresh produce, authentic ingredients and more.

The new store is located in the Pomona Valley, in southwestern San Bernardino County, where nearby competitors include Walmart, Costco and Super King Markets.

“Connecting culture and community through authentic offerings and fresh products are the foundation of our business,” said Adam Salgado, chief marketing officer for Cardenas Markets, in a statement. “Whether Montclair shoppers are seeking authentic ingredients for recipes that go back generations or experiencing our flavors and culture for the first time, we are committed to delivering our customers a stellar in-store experience that connects them to real flavors and real people who truly care."

Cardenas Markets’ new Montclair location features a feast in the fresh perimeter, with a colorful produce department boasting a wide array of seasonal fruits and vegetables from the U.S. and Latin America at affordable prices, says the company. A full-service meat department with fresh cuts of beef, pork and chicken cut daily, in addition to a large selection of seafood, are also focal points.

An authentic Mexican Cocina offers customers the flavors of Cardenas’ signature carnitas, tamales, taqueria classics and Daily Deal options, while the Tortilleria features authentic corn tortillas made by using traditional Nixtamal techniques.

The store’s bakery is filled with specialty pastries, desserts, cakes, pan dulce and bolillos baked fresh daily. And the Cafe and Juice Bar offers natural juices, smoothies, specialty coffee teas.

Through the opening of its newest store, Cardenas Markets will bring approximately 100 new jobs to Montclair, says the company. To further demonstrate its community support, the Cardenas Markets Foundation will make donations totaling $15,000 to Inland Valley HOPE Partners ($5,000), Montclair High School ($5,000) and Food for Life Ministry ($5,000).

As the company opens its Montclair location, it will do so in compliance with local health and CDC guidelines related to COVID-19. The company says it has implemented strong health and safety protocols to best serve its team members and customers. Cardenas Markets now operates a total of 53 stores under the Cardenas banner and seven stores under the Cardenas Ranch Markets banner.
