Cardenas Markets has launched its annual "Got Masa?" campaign in celebration of tamale season. The Ontario, Calif.-based Hispanic grocer offers shoppers a range of options when it comes to this popular dish.
For customers who choose to prepare their own signature tamale recipes, Cardenas Markets has several varieties of masa from which to choose, such as masa preparada, sin preparar, strawberry, pina colada, and nuez. Cardenas also has a wide variety of fresh chiles, meats, cheeses and corn husks and bananas leaves to bring this traditional Hispanic staple to life, says the company.
For customers who want to enjoy tamale season without the work, Cardenas Markets offers convenient prepared options. Cardenas Markets Cocinas (Kitchens) offer ready-to-steam and ready-to-heat tamales, and in the giving spirit of the holiday season, customers will receive a free tamale steamer with an 18-count purchase of ready-to-heat tamales.
Cardenas Markets also offers a variety of artisanal ready-to-eat tamales featured in its popular Cocinas company-wide.
“Tamales are more than just a delicious food; they are a symbol of family and togetherness during the holidays,” said Adam Salgado, chief marketing officer for Cardenas Markets, in a statement. “We are honored to be part of our customers’ traditions by providing them with the best and freshest ingredients to continue creating meaningful holiday memories, as well as provide convenient options to capture the spirit of tamale season without the work,” he added.
For shoppers seeking maximum convenience, tamales from Cardenas Markets can be delivered through a number of recently announced third-party delivery partnerships including Shipt and DoorDash.
Last month, DoorDash began offering on-demand grocery delivery from all 59 Cardenas Markets store locations.
“We understand our customers’ shopping preferences continue to evolve and Cardenas Markets is committed to providing convenient methods for our customers to shop with us,” said Salgado in an October press release. “Our partnership with DoorDash allows us to further this commitment by providing our valued customers an additional and easily accessible way to shop for our wide variety of product offerings with average delivery in an hour.”
Additionally, Salgado along with Griselda Preciado, who works in the Cocina at the company’s Fontana location, are hosting a virtual tamale making class. In this class, they share simple ways of making tamales as well as tips and hacks to make the process even easier.
Cardenas Markets operates a total of 52 stores under the Cardenas banner and seven stores under the Cardenas Ranch Markets banner. Today, Cardenas Markets is one of the largest Hispanic grocery chains in the country with stores in California, Nevada and Arizona.
