Cardenas Markets Promotes Prabash Coswatte to COO

Senior leader set to oversee store operations, information technology and more. Senior leader at Hispanic grocer will oversee the company’s store operations, loss prevention, information technology, data integrity, scanning, receiving, maintenance, construction, and real estate departments.

Cardenas Markets has named Prabash Coswatte COO. In this position, Coswatte will continue to report directly to Doug Sanders, chairman and CEO for the Ontario, Calif.-based Cardenas Markets. He will oversee the company’s store operations, loss prevention, information technology, data integrity, scanning, receiving, maintenance, construction, and real estate departments.

“Prabash has proven to be a successful and trusted member of our senior leadership team who consistently delivers results that drive our business,” Sanders said in a statement. “I’m confident that through his outstanding leadership and strategic vision, Cardenas Markets is poised for continued success.”

Coswatte joined Cardenas Markets as CIO in 2019 and was named chief administration officer in February. Prior to joining Cardenas Markets, Coswatte served as the CIO for Vallarta Supermarekts. His past experience also includes roles as VP of enterprise program management for 99 Cents Only Stores, senior project manager for Cambridge Associates LLC and senior consultant for Deloitte Consulting. He attended West Virginia University and holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Independent Hispanic grocer Cardenas Markets operates a total of 52 stores under the Cardenas banner and seven stores under the Cardenas Ranch Markets banner. Today, Cardenas Markets is one of the largest Hispanic grocery chains in the country, with stores in California, Nevada and Arizona.
