Christopher Borden has been promoted to president of the Honolulu, Hawaii-based Times Supermarket and director of parent company QSI Inc. In his new role, Borden will lead the daily operations and growth strategy for the supermarket chain.

“Christopher has been a key part of our success, and we were thrilled to promote him to this important position,” Hideki Okada, corporate officer at Don Quijote Holdings Co., said in a statement.

Borden began his career at Times Supermarket as a management trainee following the acquisition of Star Markets. He quickly worked his way up to director of marketing for a retail food chain in Hawaii, specializing in total marketing strategies designed to provide Times with a competitive edge.

In addition to marketing implementation, Borden served an integral role in developing and implementing several sales-derived and cost-savings programs, according to company officials.

Prior to joining Star Markets, Borden served as operations manager at Kmart. He has more than 23 years of experience in the food distribution and retail industry.

Times Supermarkets operates 24 supermarket locations comprising 17 Times stores, five Big Save Markets, Shima’s Supermarket and a fine wine and spirits shop, Fujioka’s Wine Times.
