Cub has revamped its online grocery ordering process to “better meet the needs of customers throughout the entire transaction,” says the Stillwater, Minn.-based company.

A variety of new features have been added to the online ordering platform, including allowing customers to use their MyCub rewards card to gain access to exclusive Cub promotions as well as pre-loaded savings and digital coupons on hundreds of products. Cub shoppers can also earn fuel reward points on every purchase, which can be redeemed at participating Holiday Stationstores, part of Circle K.

As part of the updated Cub experience, each order will be shopped locally at each store by a fully trained and dedicated team of Cub associates, says the company, adding that delivery drivers are trained to prevent bruising, spilling and tipping of groceries during transit.

Customer service needs will now be handled directly at the store where the order was placed. Each order comes with a printed receipt that says, “Today’s consumer is busier than ever, and they shouldn’t be treated differently if they can’t find time to purchase their groceries physically in one of our stores. Our new online grocery pickup and delivery experience allows us to better deliver on our MyCub, My Way promise, giving customers who shop at Cub access to the same benefits and experience whether they prefer shopping in our stores or online through curbside pickup or home delivery,” said Chad Bersie, director of e-commerce at Cub, in a statement.

Cub customers can schedule pickup and delivery orders from their local store 14 days in advance and through Nov. 13, 2021, the grocer is waiving pickup and delivery fees. After that time, for MyCub Rewards members with a $50 purchase, pickup orders are free and delivery orders will be $9.99, with no additional hidden service or convenience fees.

Similar to Cub Wine & Spirits and Liquor store home delivery offering, Capstone Logistics will facilitate deliveries via its network of independent drivers and its proprietary MileZero platform. Delivery drivers will wear the Cub logo on their uniform for identification purposes and Cub customers will receive a text notification with a link to track their delivery driver’s location.

Capstone currently uses 300 independent contractors to facilitate deliveries from Cub’s 79 grocery stores and 28 Wine & Spirits and Liquor locations throughout Minnesota. “Our grocery delivery solution provides the technology and logistics execution retailers need to offer omnichannel fulfillment,” says Jon Rydel, EVP of Capstone’s Last Mile division. “As online grocery sales continue to skyrocket, improving service needs to be a priority and with Capstone Last Mile, retailers can offer their own branded solution that improves the total customer experience.”

Owned by parent company UNFI, Cubs operates 80 grocery stores in Minnesota and Illinois, each of which offers a wide selection of fresh products and great values throughout the store to meet consumer’s everyday grocery needs, says the company.
