Fareway Stores, Inc. is planning a store relocation in Eldora, Iowa, the Midwest-based grocery retailer announced on Tuesday.
The grocery retailer’s 10,600-square-foot store will be new construction and will be located at the southeast corner of Edgington Avenue and 14th Street, which is across the street from the existing store. The Iowa-based grocery retailer said site work is set to start early next year, with a projected open date in 2025.
“Fareway has served Eldora and neighboring communities since 1982 and we are excited to provide a new store to continue to best serve our customers,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer in a statement. “We look forward to serving area residents and want to thank city staff and community leaders for helping make this project possible.”
The company said the new store will feature fresh, high-quality meat, which it touts as “second-to-none”; a full-service butcher counter; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and customer service that includes carryout to shoppers' cars.
Eldora City Council Member Carey Callaway echoed positive comments regarding the store’s opening. “We are excited to improve the shopping experience of our community members with a new Fareway store,” said Callaway. “Our city council, city staff and citizens have been supporters of Fareway since its opening and are excited to see Fareway’s commitment flourish in Eldora and the surrounding communities.”
The location will offer FastLane, a self-service checkout option, online shopping and curbside pickup, available at Shop.Fareway.com.
Fareway is a family-owned business that operates 138 stores in seven states.
