Boone, Iowa-based Fareway Stores Inc. is growing in its home state. The grocery retailer held a ribbon cutting ceremony and opened its doors on Wednesday for its new store located at 302 West Walnut Street in Ogden, Iowa.

“We are excited to open this new downtown Ogden store and want to thank local officials and the state of Iowa who helped make this project possible,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer in a statement. “Communities depend on a local grocer to offer high-quality products and unmatched service and help keep Iowa communities vibrant. We look forward to serving area residents and serving as their go-to neighborhood grocery store.”

The 8,700-square-foot store is the only full-service grocery store in town, which is a welcome addition, community leaders said.

“We are truly thankful that Fareway chose Ogden for the site of a new store—it is great to have a full-service grocery store back in town,” said Ogden Mayor Mark Trueblood in a statement.

The company said the new store features fresh, high-quality meat, which it touts as “second-to-none”; a full-service butcher counter; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and customer service that includes carryout to shoppers' cars.

The location will offer FastLane, a self-service checkout option, online shopping and curbside pickup, available at Shop.Fareway.com.

The new store will be managed by Grocery Manager Quentin Holder and Market Manager Nathan Campbell.

Fareway, which is a family-owned business, operates 133 stores and has more than 12,000 total employees.
