A new “state-of-the-art supermarket” is coming to Virginia next year from Food City.
The Virginia-based grocer Food City broke ground on a new 54,600-square-foot supermarket in Pulaski on Wednesday, which will serve as a replacement for the retailer’s existing location.
“We have served the residents of Pulaski and the surrounding county for the past 24 years, and we are excited to have the opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art Food City to better serve our loyal customers,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO, in a statement.
The new store will feature grocery in all departments, including a selection of gourmet, specialty and vegan items. Other features will include a floral boutique, pharmacy, Starbucks Cafe and an on-site café with a seating area. An off-site Food City Gas N’ Go also is planned.
In addition, the Pulaski store will have six checkout lanes and seven self-checkouts, as well as Food City's GoCart curbside pickup, home delivery and DoorDash. The new location, too, will feature energy-efficient materials such as glass cooler doors and 100% LED lighting.
“Our customers can expect to find the same smiling faces, exceptional customer service and top-quality products, with expanded variety, selection and some exciting new services,” said Smith.
Food City parent K-VA-T Food Stores operates 150 retail outlets throughout southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, east Tennessee, north Georgia and Alabama.
