Food City this month announced the completion of two store remodeling and expansion projects in Tennessee, which included adding a Starbucks café, expanding grab-and-go meal options and more.
The projects were completed at the Abingdon, Virginia-based grocery retailer’s Dandridge and Kodak stores, the company said.
“Our customers will find the same smiling faces, top-quality products, exceptional customer service and competitive pricing they have come to expect from Food City, along with some exciting new services and conveniences,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO, in a statement.
The remodeling and expansion project at the Dandridge location included the addition of over 7,000 square feet of retail space; 1,000 new items; an expanded retail foodservice department; doubling of the pharmacy department; new self-checkouts; new interior décor package; as well as new coolers and cases installed throughout the store.
The Dandridge project resulted in the creation of 30 new jobs to the area, the grocery retailer said.
“I would like to thank our loyal customers for their understanding and patience during the construction process,” said long-time store manager Steven Gadbois in a statement. “I think our customers will agree that these exciting new services were well worth the wait.”
The newly expanded and remodeled Food City store in Kodak brings fifty new jobs to the area.
The project included the addition of 12,500 square feet; a new Starbucks café, expanded produce, floral, dairy and service meat departments, as well as a renovated wine selection.
“I would like to thank our loyal customers for their understanding and patience during the construction process,” said store manager, Stephen Romines. “I think our customers will agree that these exciting new services were well worth the wait.”
Earlier this month, Food City announced its plan to build a new supermarket in South Williamson, Kentucky.
Food City parent K-VA-T Food Stores operates 150 retail outlets throughout southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, east Tennessee, north Georgia and Alabama.
