Food Lion’s Food Lion To Go grocery pickup service is expanding to 24 more stores in North Carolina and Kentucky, Ahold Delhaize’s Salisbury, North Carolina-based banner said Monday. With the addition of these stores, Food Lion To Go is now available at more than 600 stores across its 10-state footprint.

To incentivize trial, the grocery retailer is offering shoppers their first pickup for free, Food Lion said in a statement.

To make fall and holiday shopping easier, customers can see availability and place orders through the grocery retailer’s website or on the Food Lion To Go app. The pickup service gives shoppers the choice to place an order and pick up the same day, without leaving their cars, Food Lion said.

“Our customers have embraced the convenience of Food Lion To Go, so we’re excited to expand this easier experience to even more customers so they can spend more time on what matters most to them,” said Evan Harding, director of digital and eCommerce at Food Lion, in a statement. “We want to give our neighbors the option to shop through the channel they prefer, in-store or online, while still ensuring they have access to the freshest groceries at affordable prices.”

Shoppers can link their personal Food Lion MVP savings loyalty card to their account, use digital coupons and redeem their “Shop & Earn” MVP rewards program savings, the grocery retailer said. Customers can also see their accumulated Shop & Earn rewards on their checkout screen and view which clipped digital coupons will be applied to their order. This is in addition to their MVP discounts, in-store promotions and weekly savings specials.

The pickup service is available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pickup service, where allowed by law, lets customers 21 and older purchase beer and wine through To Go, Food Lion said.

Food Lion has more than 1,100 stores in 10 southeastern and mid-Atlantic states and employs more than 82,000 associates.
