Food Lion, which continues to lead brand performance in the U.S. as an Ahold Delhaize banner, held a June 15 ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly-renovated Goose Creek, S.C., store at 142 St. James Ave.
The remodeled store features an expanded hot food bar that offers a wide selection of Asian menu items and an assortment of wings. The Salisbury, N.C.-based banner said renovations also included a new front end for quick and easy check-out experience, and the store now offers Food Lion To Go grocery pickup.
Store manager Tyrell McPherson welcomed the opportunity to reintroduce the fully remodeled store to the Goose Creek community. “I grew up about 20 miles from here, so I feel at home when I’m serving our customers, local food banks, schools and others in our area,” McPherson said in a statement. “Many members of my dedicated team are from here too. Our neighbors deserve this new and improved shopping experience and we’re excited to bring it to them.”
To celebrate the renovations, the first 100 Food Lion shoppers received a mystery gift card, reusable bag and custom apron.
Food Lion also said it donated $500 in gift cards to both Gateway Open Arms and Helping Hands of Goose Creek through Food Lion Feeds, the retailer’s hunger relief initiative. To date, Food Lion Feeds has donated more than “900 million meals to neighbors in need since 2014 and has committed to donate 1.5 billion meals by 2025," the grocer said.
An Ahold Delhaize banner, Food Lion for the past 38 consecutive quarters has delivered positive sales growth. Food Lion has more than 1,100 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states and employs more than 82,000 associates.
