Fresh Thyme Market to Open Flagship Store at St. Louis' City Foundry

Fresh Thyme Market, based in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove, Ill., will open its new flagship store in Midtown St. Louis on Nov. 10, the grocer announced. 

The 27,000-square-foot store is located at the new City Foundry STL, a $300 million redevelopment of a former Century Electric manufacturing site. The mixed-use site already is home to a local-chefs-focused food hall and office tenants; additional restaurants as well as entertainment venues and residential apartments also are slated to open. 

Fresh Thyme Market at City Foundry STL "will feature a vast assortment of fresh, local, natural and organic food as well as national brand products at real affordable prices," Fresh Thyme stated in a news release. More than 1,000 locally sourced items—including selections from St. Louis-based not-for-profit Bridge Bread, which employs individuals experiencing homelessness—will be featured, the grocer said. A full-service café will offer breakfast, lunch and coffee items, and the store will highlight products from local, Black women-owned businesses. 

The new store, whose physical address is 3701 Foundry Way, will offer self-checkout and free parking and will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Store director Jane Wilcox, a St. Louis native, is hiring more than 70 full- and part-time employees for the store, Fresh Thyme's release stated. 

Fresh Thyme additionally is partnering with the St. Louis Area Foodbank's School Markets Program, which sets up markets in schools to expand access for students and their families to perishable and nonperishable foods. The partnership, Fresh Thyme said, "positively impacts over 1,000 families to further deepen the store's roots in the community."

Fresh Thyme Market operates 70 stores primarily in the Midwest, including five other locations in Missouri.
