Gelson’s customers love the distinct fragrance and delicious flavor of hatch chile peppers, and with COVID-19 restrictions, the Southern California retailer is adjusting how customers can still get the seasonal favorite.

This year, Gelson’s is offering roasted mild and hot hatch chile peppers to go—some stores will offer a variation of heat levels depending on the crop. The chiles can be ordered online and are available for pickup on Saturdays starting Aug. 8 and running through Sept. 5. Order for Saturday pickup must be placed by 4 p.m. the Thursday prior. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and customers can select their pickup window.

In addition to the roasted chiles, Gelson’s Kitchen also offers Hatch Chile Cornbread, Hatch Egg Salad, Hatch Chile/Grilled Corn/Heirloom Tomato Salad, Hatch Macaroni & Cheese, Mini Quiche Hatch Chile,  Hatch BBQ Chicken Wings, Hatch Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla and, new on the menu, Hatch Shrimp and Cheese Quesadilla. Hatch Chile Chicken Sausage, Hatch Chile Bratwursts and Hatch Chile Chicken Chorizo are among the many offerings from the meat department.
