Landover, Maryland-based Giant Food is bringing back its Local Produce Boxes for the summer.

The boxes, which feature locally sourced, in-season produce sold exclusively through Giant Delivers, will be available through September. The boxes will retail for $22.99 and will include varieties of produce from local farms throughout Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, the Ahold Delhaize USA banner announced on Thursday. No subscription is needed.

For the third year in a row, Giant will source all items from local farms such as Baugher's Orchards and Houser Produce Farm of Maryland, Papen Farms and Fifer Orchards of Delaware, Kirby Farms of Virginia and more.

"The Local Produce Boxes continue to be highly successful and are an exciting offering for our customers looking for fresh produce sourced from farms throughout their local community," said Adenike Olaleye, senior manager of eCommerce merchandising at Giant Food, in a statement. "We're thrilled to be able to offer these specially curated produce boxes for the third year in a row to provide our customers with an expanded variety of the best seasonal produce options week after week."

Last month, the greater Washington, D.C. regional grocery chain, announced a donation of $100,370 that will support local farmers located throughout the greater Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia region through a partnership with the American Farmland Trust's (AFT) Brighter Future Fund.

"As a business dedicated to supporting its local region, we're proud to know this money will be used toward increasing the resiliency of farms within our communities," said Diane Couchman, vice president of Category Management, Non-Perishables at Giant Food. "Partnering with our vendors like Tillamook and non-profit organizations such as AFT, allows us to help the hard-working farmers that supply our area with fresh, locally grown produce and flowers."

Founded in 1936, Giant Food now operates 165 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
