Regional grocery chain Giant Food is opening a new store in Baltimore, Maryland, on Friday, the grocer’s sixth location in the city.

The 44,000-square-foot location will be located at 857 East Fort Ave. and will add over 150 new jobs to the Baltimore community, the grocery retailer said Monday.

“Giant has served the Baltimore community for over 67 years, and we are thrilled to bring our customers an additional location to better fulfill their needs,” said Ira Kress, president of Giant Food, in a statement. “With our newest store layout, décor and expanded offerings, we are sure this new store will deliver on convenience, value and quality as a one-stop shopping experience.”

The store will feature Giant’s newest store layout and format, including full-service meat and seafood departments, extended produce, natural and organic selections, a full-service floral department and extensive prepared food offerings, including fresh-made sushi and in-house smoked meat selections.

The retailer offers Giant Pickup or Giant Delivers orders on giantfood.com or the Giant Food mobile app or shoppers at the new Baltimore location can choose to pick up their groceries at the store or have them delivered right to their doors.

Shoppers at the new store will have access to Giant’s team of licensed in-store nutritionists for free consultations as well as online nutrition classes and webinars, Giant Food said in a statement.

Giant Food, an Ahold Delhaize brand, was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1936 and now operates 165 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
