Gordon Food Service's newly relocated and remodeled Trotwood, Ohio, store is now open

Gordon Food Service, a family-managed broadline foodservice distribution company, on Tuesday opened its newly relocated and remodeled Trotwood, Ohio, store.

The new store, which is outside Dayton, increased its footprint from 15,000 square feet to 52,000 square feet, according to a company press release. Previously, the Michigan-based retailer operated a wholesale store in the area. The new location is at 5031 Salem Avenue.

“This move not only enhances job opportunities but also strengthens the local workforce,” said Chad Downing, executive director of the Trotwood Community Improvement Corporation.

Designed for home shoppers, restaurant owners and foodservice professionals of all types, the new store features traditional groceries with an assortment of ready-to-go meal items. The store also sells a variety of restaurant-quality items.

“Gordon Food Service Store believes in the power of good food and its ability to bring people together and make moments special,” President Tim Grabar said in a statement. “We are excited to open our new remodeled location to the community and provide the chef-quality food products our stores are known for.”

Gordon Food Service isn’t the only retailer looking to expand its brands and offerings to Ohio shoppers. On Thursday, California-based Grocery Outlet opened its first store in Ohio, bringing the retailer’s state count to nine. The new store is located in northeast Ohio in Boardman. “We are thrilled to be expanding Grocery Outlet’s footprint and opening a store in Ohio,” said Grocery Outlet CEO and President RJ Sheedy.

Ohio-based Dorothy Lane Market, known for its gourmet food offerings, started construction last week on its fourth location, this one in Mason, Ohio.

The Mason store, which will be the largest of the retailer’s stores, will include an approximately 50,000-square-foot main level and a 9,000-square-foot mezzanine, which will feature an on-site Culinary Center.
