Grocery openings pick up in November

Grocery retailers expanded their unit growth in November as the end of the year quickly approaches.

Winsight Grocery Business, in its unscientific monthly tally of grand openings, counted 33 new stores during the month. Aldi kept up its brisk pace of new store openings with 11 new locations.

Retailers also experiencing high unit growth for the month were Grocery Outlet and Publix Super Markets, which is set to open its first store in Kentucky next month. Independent retailers were also seeing an uptick in new unit growth across various parts of the country.
