Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is making its move into Ohio next month with its first store in the state.

The extreme-value grocery retailer announced on Monday that it will open two new locations in the Mahoning Valley, bringing 45 new jobs to an area that includes northeast Ohio and a small portion of western Pennsylvania.

The stores, at 1700 Wilmington Road in New Castle, Pennsylvania, slated to open Oct. 26, and 317 Boardman Poland Road in Boardman, Ohio, opening on Nov. 16, are only 17 miles apart. Boardman is the first Grocery Outlet location in Ohio.

“We’re so excited to open the New Castle location as well as our very first location in Ohio, which is a huge milestone for us,” said R.J. Sheedy, president and CEO of Grocery Outlet, in a statement. “After the success we’ve had in the Mid-Atlantic, we’re eager to expand to the Midwest and make high-quality, affordable groceries more accessible to the community.”

Both locations will be run by independent operators Eric and Sarah Senges, who have more than 30 years of retail experience, including operating the Lake Elsinore Grocery Outlet location in California since 2018.

Grocery Outlet stores are owned and run by independent retailers based in the communities they serve.

“We are so thrilled to be a part of the community, which allows us to be closer to our family in both New Castle and Boardman. By helping open new Grocery Outlet locations in the area, we are able to provide our neighbors with significant savings on quality groceries,” the Senges said in a statement.

New store growth will also happen this month on the West Coast as Grocery Outlet readies to open stores in Fontana and Cameron Park, California. The Fontana location at 17040 Slover Avenue will open on Thursday while the Cameron Park store at 3040 Green Valley Road is slated to open Oct. 26.

Grocery Outlet now operates over 440 locations in California, Idaho, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and Maryland.
