With a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher an early indicator for COVID-19, temperature taking has become an increasingly normal activity, leading to a run on thermometers in stores.

Beginning April 1, Harmons Grocery, based in West Valley City, Utah, is distributing free thermometers through its pharmacy drive-thrus. An anonymous donor generously provided 3,300 FDA-approved digital thermometers to Harmons for distribution to families needing a thermometer.

“Our priority remains doing our best to following COVID-19 guidance, and we hope that making a thermometer available to families that don’t have one will help them in their efforts to monitor the health of their loved ones,” said Dean Peterson, Harmons president and CEO. “We are monitoring the emerging situation continuously and are dedicated to doing all we can to support our customers and communities as we all work together in responding to COVID-19.”

The thermometers, one per family, will be available at eight store locations during regular drive-thru hours while supplies last.

Participating stores include:

7th Street (7755 S. 700 East, Midvale)
Draper (672 E. 11400 South, Draper)
Bangerter Crossing (125 E. 13800 South, Draper)
