Lowes Foods, with stores in the Carolinas, has partnered with Radius Networks to increase the efficiency of its click-and-collect program, Lowes Foods to Go.

Radius’ Fly Buy technology uses proprietary machine-learning technology to accurately calculate the customers’ arrival times and on-premise locations for curbside and in-store pickup programs. The system provides a frictionless experience for both customers and retailers.

“The Radius Networks FlyBuy platform gives our hosts a new level of visibility into a guest’s journey to our store, which is significantly decreasing wait times at pickup,” says Chad Petersen, senior director of e-commerce for Lowes Foods. “In addition to the time-saving benefits for our guests, the geolocation data provided by FlyBuy helps our Personal Shoppers spend their time more efficiently inside the store. This has a dramatic impact on our service levels and efficiency while aiding in our continued focus toward developing a more proactive operation overall.”

The platform enables two-way communication between the customer and the store. As soon as orders are ready for pickup, the customers are notified and prompted to share their location when they’re ready to drive to the store. The store team automatically receives alerts at important stages of the customer’s journey so they can prepare and carry the order to the guest the moment they pull into the pickup area. This saves the customer time as well as improves efficiency for the grocery fulfillment team.

Lowes plans to have the technology in all of its Lowes Foods to Go locations by the end of the second quarter in 2020.
