Meijer has forged a new partnership with Uber Technologies Inc. to expand its on-demand and scheduled grocery delivery to customers across the Midwest.

As of today, nearly 250 Meijer locations in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin and Kentucky will see Meijer grocery delivery on Uber Eats, the ultra-fast delivery platform announced Friday.

"Meijer is known for freshness—fresh food, fresh thinking and a focus on innovation makes them a natural partner for Uber," said Christian Freese, Uber's Head of Grocery and New Verticals across the US & Canada, in a statement. "We're thrilled to be bringing their fresh selection to Uber and Uber Eats across much of the country, and to be working together to deliver must-have groceries to America's doorsteps, just in time for the holidays."

During the holiday season, Meijer locations will be featuring stores throughout the Uber Eats app and Uber's Holiday Shop. Uber One members can benefit from $0 delivery fees and 5% off on Meijer orders of $35 or more, and all consumers can receive $10 off their first $40 Meijer order from Uber Eats with the code MEIJER10 through the end of the year, Uber said in a statement.

Meijer’s newest brick-and-mortar store concept—convenience-focused Meijer Grocery— will open its first two stores in southeast Michigan's Orion Township and Macomb Township on Jan. 26.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based grocer said Meijer Grocery is all about convenience.

"By opening Meijer Grocery stores, we're introducing a new way for our customers to shop that provides convenience, value and the great quality our customers have always come to expect from Meijer," Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes said in a statement.
