Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage on Friday opened its newest store at 903 S. 8th Ave. in Brighton, Colorado, marking Natural Grocers' 43rd location in the Centennial State.

The opening expands on the Lakewood, Colorado-based Natural Grocers’ existing 163-store footprint across nearly half the country, the grocer said in a statement.

The Brighton store is also the grocer’s first new store featuring a CO2 refrigerant system designed to save energy and provide enhanced environmental protection compared to conventional refrigeration technologies, Natural Grocers said.  Constructed with sustainable building features and energy-saving innovations, the new store boasts non-toxic building materials and 100% LED lighting.

Committed to uphold food-sourcing standards, the grocery store will sell certified organic produce, organic and natural groceries, free-range eggs and pasture-based dairy. Non-GMO prepackaged bulk goods, dietary supplements, body care and household essentials will also be available at the new store.

“We've been looking for the perfect spot in Brighton for several years. It's with great excitement that we're opening our first store in this area. We look forward to bringing healthy food to the Brighton community at prices they can afford—one of the main principles Natural Grocers was founded on and that we still uphold today," said Raquel Isely, VP of marketing for Natural Grocers, in a statement.

Looking to provide one-on-one personalized nutritional health, coaching sessions from the retailer's nutritional health coaches will be featured at the store. There's also a community room for in-person classes and guest speakers, the grocer said.

In efforts to connect with the Brighton community, Natural Grocers made a $2,500 donation to Food Bank of the Rockies, which it has partnered with for over a decade.

“Together with Natural Grocers and the Bring Your Own Bag campaign, Food Bank of the Rockies has been able to provide enough food for upwards of 4 million meals, which help nourish and strengthen our communities," said Erin Pulling, president, and CEO of Food Bank of the Rockies, in a statement.

Natural Grocers celebrated the store's grand opening with a variety of discounts, gift card giveaways and prize sweepstakes.

Founded in 1955, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. operates in 21 states.
