Lakewood, Colo.-based Natural Grocers will be donating $5,000 to Color of Change in recognition of Juneteenth. Color of Change is an online racial justice organization whose mission is to “help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us.”

Heather Isely, EVP of Natural Grocers, said in a release, “It's a privilege to make this contribution to Color of Change, as they 'champion solutions that move us all forward.'

“At Natural Grocers, we honor and celebrate our differences and cultural backgrounds. Cultivating an inclusive environment aligns with our five founding principles, and shows gratitude for the unique life experience each person brings to the table. Recognizing Juneteenth and supporting this organization is just one way we can nurture an ecosystem of diversity and inclusion to help us all thrive.”

Other companies, such as Target and Amazon, are continuing their observances of Juneteenth as well. In 2020, Minneapolis-based Target “formally acknowledged Juneteenth as an official annual company holiday,” according to the company’s website. Target said last year that going forward it will provide team members “with the opportunity to observe the day however they prefer, through education, service or celebration.”

Seattle-based Amazon was one of the sponsors of the first Juneteenth Unityfest 2021, and a promotional sponsor of BlkFreedom’s 2021 Virtual Museum Experience. According to BlkFreedom’s website, Amazon this year will sponsor the organization’s program, “We The People.” In its third year, the virtual event will document “a national exploration of the U.S. Constitution through the eyes of historic museums and anthropologists from across the United States,” according to a news release.
